Nicknamed “The Crossroads of the Adirondacks” because of its central location in the Adirondack Park, Tupper Lake is a true Adirondack North Woods gem. It is home to the newly opened Wild Center, a nationally recognized natural history Eco-center that brings the Adirondack wilderness up close and personal. It offers mile after mile of secluded snowmobile trails dotted with outstanding accommodations, canoeing through pristine waters, and countless other ways to enjoy the great outdoors.
Tupper Lake enjoys a long and rich French Canadian influence dating back to the early days of its logging industry that continues to lend a distinct flavor to the community today. Annual Woodsman’s Days events are highlighted by axe throwing, logrolling and chainsaw carving competitions. Active artisans, antiques, and an annual model-airplane air show are among the activities that visitors come back for year after year. There is even an old-fashioned movie theater nestled in the heart of the village.
You can enjoy a championship golf course, paddle a canoe down the Raquette River, or access Tupper Lake via the public boat launch. If you prefer, take it slow and just enjoy the natural beauty of the lakes, rivers, and a spectacular evergreen landscape.
