Keene Valley is appropriately known as "The Home of the High Peaks." The town is surrounded by some of the highest, and most majestic, mountains east of the Rockies. A short drive toward Lake Placid will take you to the unbelievably beautiful Cascade Lakes (a perfect place for a picnic). Fishermen will enjoy the dozens of streams that cross nearly every local road. A climber's paradise (rock and ice) lies on either side of Route 73. The famous "Beer Walls" (each route is named after a brand of that beverage) are a short walk from Chapel Pond. The mountains are honeycombed with hiking trails that range from rugged, multi-day trips (such as Mount Marcy, New York's highest) to easy, family friendly ones (such as the Base of Roaring Brook Falls, on the Giant Mountain trail). Cross-country skiers and snowshoers can opt either to break their own trails in the wilderness, or to cruise the many groomed ones available. When the rugged adventures are over for the day, Keene Valley offers relaxation, restoration, and comfort at its many unique restaurants and shops. Bring your bike, we have an area to store them inside, and ride some of the most beautiful roads in the area. Plus Skiing, hiking, mountain climbing, are just a few other sports you can enjoy. Tennis courts, trail hiking, x-country, fishing and canoeing are just around the corner. Or Stay inside and just cozy up with a great dinner, wine by the fireside…you’ll love it! This Keene Valley Bed and Breakfast is located in the hamlet of Keene Valley in the High Peaks of the Adirondacks, with the Ausable River and John's Brook running just beyond its doors. From the Lodge, it is a short walk to the village's restaurants, cafe's and shops. |
